Whew, we're back from a short but memorable trip to New York City which included attending Christie's Fine Printed Books and Manuscripts auction at Rockefeller Center, not to mention standing in a twilight gale on the observation deck atop the Empire State Building. If you're planning an Affair to Remember (or Sleepless in Seattle) tryst at this landmark, December is probably not the month to do it in. Happily, our consignment item did well, and we're planning both a report of this and a discussion of the Christie's consignment process in an upcoming BookThinker article. Tim Doyle's column, Collecting Science Fiction, continues in today's Update. The topic is Time Travel, one of SF's most venerable themes. Tim features many of the key titles in this category, discusses some of their plots, pinpoints important issue points, estimates values, and offers specific advice for those selling and collecting this genre. As mentioned previously, the BookThinker will continue to publish weekly throughout December. Look for the final 2003 issue next Monday. Meanwhile, Happy Holidays to one and all!
