As promised, more about bending your perceptions of what constitutes a book today and how important this can be to your bottom line - especially if you have aspirations to move to full-time bookselling. This time the "books" I'll be discussing are DVDs. There's one sector of the DVD market in particular that's red hot as we speak, and exploiting it for profit couldn't be simpler for booksellers.
Also today, BookThink's Media Editor Catherine Petruccione interviews Scot Kamins. Modern Library aficionados will recognize Scot as the creator and host of dogeared.com - a highly regarded online resource for Modern Library collecting. And fortunately it won't end with this. Next month look for an interview with Modern Library guru Harry Toledano.
One more announcement. This is something we've tried to put off for as long as possible (two years and three months, to be exact) - a price increase. However, as BookThink has grown, so has the cost of doing business. Our monthly payroll for writers alone has tripled in the last year, and many other expenses have headed north as well. Effective February 1, 2006, therefore, subscriptions to BookThink's Gold Edition and BookThink's 50/50 will increase to $29.99 annually. That's the bad news. The good news is that current subscribers to one or both newsletters can extend their subscriptions 12 issues at the current rate of $20 through the end of January - no matter what your date of expiration. Also, new subscribers to either newsletter may also get on board at $20 - or $40 for both - until the end of the month. Please note that this offer supercedes all previous offers, also that subscriptions to the weekly BookThinker newsletter remain free. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
By the way, if you're brand new to BookThink and would
like to get caught up with back issues of the Gold
Edition and 50/50, we've updated our special back
issue package to include the most recent issues. All
back issues of both newsletters
can now be purchased
for the discounted rate of $139.99 - a savings of $35
over issues purchased separately.
